Are the photographers compensated through your purchase?

I freaking hope so....giving away photos for a cause is one thing, but for PB to profit on someone else's hard work is just wrong...

Not this photographer...I shot the Dec issue and PB said they had no budget for image use. Glad to see it in the calendar but tired of freebies from companies that in reality can afford to pay...

wow man i'm sorry to hear that. that really sucks considering pinkbike has the money to host a huge website, sponsor contests, videos, riders, and even charges for a 'plus' service...

I declined to have one of my pics used as they weren't willing to give anything outside of credit, not that I was looking for much. I guess it was naive of me to ever think that a site like this, that makes money off of the free content of others, would take the high road and offer compensation to photographers for images that PB has decided are good enough to be included in their calender. They could set a good example to the industry and compensate photographers, instead they trot out the tired 'good exposure' line, and when people call them out on it they delete comments to make everything seem hunky dory. But when people aren't willing to have a backbone and let them get away with it, why would they change? But hey, they're helping established photographers get even more industry gigs, so that justifies it in their own minds. I may not be getting rich off of the editorial photos I've sold this year, but at least my pictures are going to publications and websites that see the value in them and are willing to pony up some cash.

I got the 2010 calendar, and I really liked it. but I think for 20 bucks, it should come with better paper or whatever. it seemed really flimsy.

flag radek Mod Plus (Dec 2, 2010 at 14:48)
The 2011 is much larger, and weights 3 times more due to thicker, better, and glossy paper.

flag StuntMonkey (Dec 2, 2010 at 3:43)
 Get this Calender, First!
Then add, 'get Life Cycles dvd' to it!
(See? I can solve any problem! Now, where are my keys?!)
(Life Cycles is a Good DVD, 'Artsy', but not as much Riding! as I would have liked... the riding included was very good!)

flag fullbug (Dec 2, 2010 at 8:35)
i think anything is going to be easier to get "first" compared to the LifeCycles vid. Maybe I need this calendar to start marking off the 2011 days til I see the video delivered!
not hatin' just statin'.
