Rossland Fat Tire Festival is born!

Published Aug 28, 2009 at 11:15
by Ryan Kuhn

North American and Canadian Championships, BC Cups and the Rubberhead Classic – Rossland was once lauded as a premier destination for mountain bike racing in Canada. With infamous, technical courses and spanning single track, the small mountain community located in the southern Kootenay region of British Columbia was auspiciously dubbed the “Mountain Biking Capital of Canada.” After a hiatus from the competition scene, Rossland is pleased to announce the town’s first annual Fat Tire Festival September 5 and 6, 2009. The Festival will feature three events: the Dreadhead All-Mountain Challenge, Huck en Berries Bike Jam (slopestyle) and the 7 Summits poker ride.

Pampered at Panorama Resort

When Pinkbike asked me to write an article on Panorama, I questioned their sobriety. They are more than aware of my biking ability and sending me off to bike with riders who bike six days a week sounded nuts. Embracing this challenge I put a fresh chain on my bike and finally invested in a full-face helmet. As any typical nine to fiver living in Calgary I don’t get out on two wheels as much as I should. But I packed ready for a couple days of wet weather biker mania.

Shimano SLX FC-M665 Crank Review

Published Aug 17, 2009 at 14:53
Source: Reece Wallace

Weighing in at under one kilogram, extremely stiff with Hollotech II technology, and designed to fit almost any mountain biker's budget, the Shimano SLX series cranks and bottom bracket cannot be beaten.

When my Shimano SLX cranks first arrived in the mail, I opened up the box and thought a mistake had been made. I thought that some cross country cranks had been shipped to me instead of the freeride cranks I was supposed to be reviewing. However, within the first ride it became obvious that Shimano has put a lot of R&D into their new SLX series.
