Fox Racing Truck, Trailer Stolen!

Fox Truck and trailer.

"Hi Tyler,
Sadly it is true. Tuesday morning between the hours of 2:00am and 6:00am while Mike Vanlienden was staying in a local Hotel outside of Quebec someone drove off with our entire truck and race trailer. The Trek mechanic actually saw it going down the highway towards the Montreal around 4:00am. We are absolutely gutted about it as it was stocked with our prototypes, Titanium spring inventory and everything we needed to service our teams and riders for the upcoming important North American events. In addition we were transporting the Atherton's North American pit setup. Luckily they had their bikes with them. We prepare very early for the race season and thanks to preseason testing, servicing/rebuilding our athletes product every race and supplying adequate spare suspension, we will get through it. This is our most important year to date as we are currently leading the mens and womens DH championship along with the mens 4x championship, and need to make sure we can service these top riders at the highest level.

I would be grateful if you posted something about it. I can provide race trailer photos if needed.

Thanks
Mark"

Here is additional info on the truck and trailer:

-The truck cab is a white FORD F550 Turbo Diesel with beige interior, CA license plate. There are many distinguishing features with this cab such as all FORD logos have been converted to FOX logos, FOX custom embroidered seats, FOX instrument cluster and custom FOX footwheels. The trailer is a 28ft FEATHERLIGHT flip down door. The trailer contained custom proprietary racing equipment as well as two YETI bicycles, a medium ASR-5, and medium ARC hardtail. A reward is being offered for any information that leads to the return of the vehicle. The Race Rig was last seen at 6/28/11 at 4:30am traveling West on Hwy 20 just outside of Montreal.

flag kevinthelilbiker (Jun 29, 2011 at 21:35)
Dear people who can't grasp why steal a vehicle with fox everywhere...

Step 1: steal truck full of expensive shit
Step 2: gut all expensive stuff out of truck and trailer
Step 3: drop off truck and trailer where-ever convenient in any condition
Step 4: profit

Sucks for fox but I bet you'll see more than a few cheap ti springs up for sale some time soon. It's up to you the buyer to be sure what kind of goods you are buying and how willing you are to go for that super deal.

to steal a new truck(unless the keys were left in it) takes a pro. so unless they left the keys in the ignition it will be either stripped for parts or repainted and sold

What JamesDH08 is trying to say that it obviously wasnt stolen between 4am and 6am if the Trek Mechanic saw it on the highway at 4am. That would mean it would have been stolen between 2am and 4am not 2 - 6 like they posted

flag dirteveryday (Jun 30, 2011 at 20:03)
@ AustinL- They actually said it was stolen between 2 and 6. 4 is between 2 and 6. Theif could have nabbed it 30 seconds after the driver shut it down and went into the motel at 2 in the morning when he got there, took back roads until he got to the highway when the Trek guys spotted it.
All they're saying is the driver last saw it at 2am when he parked it and that it wasn't there when he came out to hit the road at 6am.

flag brett236 (Jun 30, 2011 at 20:25)

Well, whatever, they got it back. And 4 is between 2 and 6.
  • + 2
flag brett236 (Jun 30, 2011 at 20:42)
but you are missing the point. they said it dissapeared in that time. it was seen at 4am driving away from the hotel. that means it was stolen between 2 and 4.
  • + 3
flag dirteveryday (Jun 30, 2011 at 20:51)
Not missing the point, FOX said it was stolen between 2 and 6, not me. That goober said 4 isn't between 2 and 6. I disagreed. Still do. So take it up with Fox, I'm just baggin on a silly dude.

As for the write up, think about it: The driver of the stolen truck woke up, found the truck missing and called the cops. At 6am apparently. Told police he last saw it at 2am when he parked it. That would be the OFFICAL police report. LATER...The Trek guys most likely said "Well shit Fox guys, we saw the truck this morning about 4am, had no idea it was stolen yet!"
TaDaaah. Mystery solved!

Thank you, thank you...I'll be here all week. Mostly because 112 is too hot to ride.

flag mtb1stdegree (Jun 30, 2011 at 20:52)

SORRY Guys - I didn't word my comment very well at all - it wasn't particularly clear.

I was just trying to say that the truck must have been stolen between 2 am and 4 am, rather than between 2am and 6am. It's really the wrong line to go down as the fact of the matter is Fox guys are now left without technical support, spares, prototypes and all other gear necessary for the athletes which Fox sponsor.
Fingers crossed they find the truck, or at least bring the criminals to justice. Hope that clears things up.

If it was targeted specifically, it would have been hidden in secure garaging later that night, the parts shipped to somewhere like eastern europe, and the rest of the truck broken down, destroyed, or sold off in parts...

flag Trekbiker2 (Jun 29, 2011 at 17:51)
Just for everyone that might still be wondering why this truck hasn't been recovered is because this truck might not be as easy to spot as it may seem, the truck could have been backed into some shady place in between a few other trailers. This way the thieves could load up the contents into another truck for over the boarder stuff, and have some extra time to deal with the truck and trailer. I really think that the reason for the people for taking this trailer was that they really want something to do with the prototypes, more than just being able to ride it before everyone else but maybe for designs or selling it to smaller fork manufactures that is out of North America because they would drop the money for those prototypes.

The reason why this might happen is because they obviously knew what they were doing and how they could get out of it and probably for a big amount of cash. This is just to give you an idea that these people probably are not doing this because someone dared them to or Rockshox took it, but instead that a thing this big was more likely done by people that are pros at this kind of stuff. Yes sadly there are people that are pros in stealing bike companies stuff.
