Certain activities or circumstances are not conducive to the Leatt, maybe they felt that there were factors of the 4 wheelers handling or crash characteristics where the brace would do more harm than good. Also there may be aspects of Her injury that dont allow her to use the brace. Hard for any of us to say.

ah yes valid point

especially as it might harm her more than protect with the sustained injury

There is a company that sells them if you look hard enough, featuring the old fox vanilla DH shocks and hayes 9 brakes. I can't remember the website, but they're out there! I also know the price tag was $17,000. (the 6 shocks and 4 brakes alone add up to over 2,500, then you have 4 wheels, at about 500 apiece, and then you get into the custom desgin of the frame...)

the course is basically sticks n stones to daytona burns then to stadium at least that is the expert race then the beginner is a bit of sticks then to speed control and down some of the easier trails but both courses are sick. bottom line is the event is going to kick ass. both courses are rough techy and super fun

Keit....this is a message from a "certain someone". Yep, you're right that I wasn't wearing a Leatt and here was why. I had 1 day notice that I had access to the Quad bike and wasn't prepared AT ALL! I didn't even have riding gear or a helmet. The TLD rep had to hook me up and I bought those Smith goggles. Leatt was in the process of getting me mine, but they didn't even have time to overnight it cuz' I was in Canada.

I am a HUGE advocate of the Leatt brace and feel that for a nominal fee it can possibly save your life or at least provide extra protection that you wouldn't have had otherwise. I wish I had known more about it before I got hurt and would never wish anything like what happened to anyone.

Okay, so onto a different subject. Smile I read some of the comments and I want to address them. Yes, the event is both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is practice all day and Sunday is race day. It is NOT a mass start. You will be assigned a start time and go off in 30 second intervals.

You can go to www.racefortara.com and find out ALL the details!

Thank you EVERYONE for all your support and I hope you can make it out for a sick event. Is is a quick list of the weekends events. Saturday practice, Rando's DH clinic, W.Cup mechanic Frank Trotters mechanic clinic, Jump Jam, Saturday night NWD 10 Premiere, Party in the beer garden, and Pro Autograph signing, Sunday's HUGE raffle, and race. So come join us and have a great time!
See you all there! I'll be the one trying to hit all the jumps in the 4-wheeler. Haha.

I don't see why not. I don't think it's x-rated in any way.

Also, a lot of you were asking about the 4-wheel bike and my friend Brooke that makes them will be up here this weekend so definitely go check them out. He will be happy to tell you all about them. Yes, they are pretty pricey, but they are absolute quality.

I definitely want to stress the importance of getting in at least 1 practice run on Saturday. Practice is all day from 10am to 5pm and there will be NO practice from the top on Sunday. There just will not be enough time to shuttle. So head on up and get in some fun runs with friends and we'll see you all here!

Thanks!
Tara

I am super excited to ride in an event like this. I have been following your recovery since the beginning, and have used your story several times to teach my students about overcoming adversity and staying positive when life throws you a curve.
