Arduum Challenge -This Weekend Oct.20th and 21st
October 16, 2007Published by bruleWe all know that some of you have actually put your DH bikes away for the season, but hold up you're gonna need all the travel you can find and dig out your old stinky armor too. There's a Downhill race this weekend and you'd better be there. The Arduum Challenge will be on Red Mtn. which is located just north of Mission B.C. in the same vicinity as the infamous Bear Mt. race course. Being in the same vicinity does not mean that there are any similarities in the two course though.
"You've seen and heard about Platinum, then came the re-birth of Heckyl and Jeckyl, those are two of their Freeride trails, now see what the minds of the “Woodlot builders” think a race course should be like.” "The trail is steep and techy!" - Greg Rector Pictures, Videos, and Race details inside: This weekend's race is open to all riders that are 17 years of age and older, so come one, come ALL! Registration on the Saturday or day of. Saturday: Registration - 10am-3pm Shuttles - 10:30am-3:30pm Concession - 10am-5pm (non public=volunteers closed shuttles 3:45pm-4:45pm) Sunday: Registration - 8am-9:30am Shuttles - 8am-10am Concession - 10am-5pm Racing - 11am-3pm Awards - 3:30pm (non public=volunteers closed shuttles 10am-10:30am) Categories for both men and women: 17-19 20-29 30-39 40+. wut is the minimum armour requirements i would love to enter but all i got is a helmet on me and i cant exactly get my other stuff
You're going to want as much armour as you can attach to your body. It's steep, technical, rooty and muddy and pretty unforgiving if you crash. Combine that with this weeks weather report and I think you'll agree with my first sentence. It's going to be a fun weekend!
thanks dave good to know im still debating on racing id need to find a ride from abbotsford and it would be on a fresh build so my bike would be unridden
Armour is not mandatory...BUT highly recommended.
i concur. nice job guys!
There will be a full length video on our site shortly. Top to bottom footage.
that site would be www.arduumchallenge.com
The full length video is in this story right now and so is the link to the Arduum site-got ya covered man!
I think the dog should be getting a number for the race....
Ya Hemi pretty much rips up the trails with all those guys. Sure isn't a happy girl when Todd has to leave her in the truck though. The course is burly, but the kind of challenge that racing needs-too many Aline style courses out there these days and this isn't one of them!
Couldn't agree with you more on that one.
Rumour has it that Hemi will be making an appearance at the race, making sure the course is clear before we send down the racers.
pin it to win it! nice video.
i would like to download the video ... will it be free to pick for the public?
look on youtube, there is a longer version.. but don't tell anyone, cuz it shows much more than the teaser
^^ both you guys need to read this story as the teaser is in it and it is the longer version in WAY BETTER QUALITY than on you Tube.
anyone know the name and artist of the song? please tell me! many thx!
if its the video i was thinkin of its atreyu but i dont know the name of the song
Hey Dave do you know a guy Names Todd who lives out in Abbotsford or Mission. Could you just say thanks next time you see him because he showed us the goods like the woodlot and bear mountain. he has a dog named Mia who is a sweet trail riding dog. From Kyle Chris and Beau.
That would be Todd Earnshaw. You could fire him off an email through www.fvmba.com He is one of the Mission Reps. I am sure he would love to hear it direct from you.

watch out for that turbodog
That looks like an awesome trail! I'm sorry I'm going to miss it. Sweet video too!
every time i try and race Hemi she find a new line, she beats me every time
I'd have to agree with 888rydr on the point of that trail looking awesome.
Dave is slow, that is all..
I'll be there, not racing, listen for the cowbell..
I'll be there, not racing, listen for the cowbell..
i heard the the time for the pros is like 5 mins on that course
Oh it'll be a fair bit quicker than that.
is there going to be a grom category? cuz i realy want to race that
im only 15 can i still race
This weekend's race is open to all riders that are 17 years of age and older, so come one, come ALL!

Right below the last picture there is a link to the forum discussion. It is all explained very clearly there.
It should be manditory that if you are spectating you have to have a cowbell
How about a Trombone!!
just wondering,
will the course be open to public after the race?
will the course be open to public after the race?
Yes it will. Like the Bear Mountain DH course it will be available for the public to ride. It will just be a hike a bike to get to it.
well thats good that it will be open to public so we can check it out later!
nice dog hahah, and can someone send me the link to the longer and better video cause that was awsome.
That is the longer version-the other shorter version is only about a minute long.
looks like a lot of fun but where are the rough and steep sections?
haha. You'll see them when you are on course. The rider is a World Cup racing hopeful. He makes it look really easy.
I realy hope to ride that soon, seeing as im only 10 minutes away, looks like I moved back from whistler just in time
. Awesome video by the way.
the black dog rules!!!!
are any of the jumps or drops avoidable?
They all have ride arounds. The ridearounds are slower but they are there.
oh great im not interested in racing but riding it after sounds great
They're always looking for volunteers to help out with the race if you don't want to compete. It's a great way to give something back to the people who built the trail for you.

the video is sweet its the shit
It was a nasty, nasty day to even be outside let alone racing a bike down a hill. Big cheers to everyone that braved the elements and came out to have some fun.

Even bigger thanks to Greg and Denise for getting what I hope will be the 1st annual Arduum Challenge underway.
