Fabien has my vote for the guy who is going to pop out and take top 5 this race. he is crazy this season, especially with an injured knee. he either is kinda behind everyone or on top. this is his kind of course if you ask me.

I am going to talk about it...I think its sick that he has made his way back to the top, he is an amazing rider. You don't usually hear of guys falling from the top and climbing back up.

I'm a big supporter of Fabien! He's a class rider and to think he f*cked his knee up just over a month back yet he still made it to all the rounds since Fort bill! I hope he gets top 5 this weekendBig Grin

if he wins it will also move him up as a serious contender for the points having won two rouns and placed well at others, i think a lot of folk have been over looking him because he hasnt done so well in the last couple of seasons, but if he wins or podiums at least then i think people will start to see he is very good on technical and fast tracks

Dude the vid dosent do justice to that section. It's in fact 2 x 6' drop with a 10' tranny. It is gnarly as hell. Just to let you know locals roll them down instead of dropping them. Chances to crash and injure yourself on those are higher then normal.

Sam Hill is a crazy silent rider !

why are the canadians so poor at dh? they have more places to ride than everyone else but dont have a top 20 rider. i think its cos they dont push up lol. look at all the uk guys in the top 20 and we dont have a single chair lift for biking.
come on peaty lets have another win, or at least beating the auzzie robot.

make that robotsRazz - you're forgetting sic Mick too, Australia sure seems to breed the emotionless dh'ers!lol

Most Canadian kids these days just want to dirt jump or learn slopestyle moves. I agree gingerninja, it does seem odd that so few Canadians make it as far as Steve Smith and become top-level contenders. I'm sure in the next few years, as long as Stevie doesn't blow up, some kids will believe it's possible and really focus on racing. Back in the day when most of the videos were actually Canadian DH pros goofing around in the suburbs, the young kids had lots to look up to but that's worn thin lately. Don't forget, it's way easier for someone young in Canada to work in the oil patch and make 100k+ than it is to become a factory supported racer and even pay the bills.

This is all so true
The UCI and Worlds Race scene in Canada is nowhere near as big as it is in Australia and Europe.

When I first went to Whistler 4 years ago, you could tell the Europeans and Aussies apart from the Canadians because we all had matching race outfits with the old 5.10s and the canadians wore anything from their wardrobe.

Also, remember that with the likes of most of the BC riders that made films, the majority were all 'freeriders', regardless of how fast they were.
I would love to see Romo or Klassen race because they are fast, but thats not the scene over there.

Sam Hill definately has talent but is a danger to his self, Fabien has done very well to come back from injury, Peaty is an absolute legend a deserves world champs title. Gee is fast but manages to mess it up some how. And well done too Aron Gwinn and stevie smith are doing well but Aaron Gwinn is a but of a prick.

Notice how a lot of the top riders are British commonwelth e.g. Australia, South Africa
