Commencal USA Sponsors Award Winning Downhill Team/ Grows US Bike Park Participation

Posted: Feb 20, 2009

Rachel, Gee and Dan Atherton have become household names after a spectacular 2008 World Cup racing season. They join the pantheon of other high profile European Pro names to ride Commencal bikes to the podium including Cedric Gracia, Remy Absalon and Anne Caroline Chausson.

But who's next? Here in the US, Commencal has been developing its own field of rising stars, signing riders Erik Nelson and Joanna Peterson this winter. Today brings a brand new endorsement and check out videos from the park too.

'THIS JUST IN'
Commencal USA and Team SolVista are pleased to jointly announce that the two organizations have entered into to a sponsorship agreement which includes Team SolVista and the SolVista Bike Park at Granby Ranch.

The SolVista Mountain Bike Race team is comprised of the region's top professional gravity racers. The team is diverse in talent and experience levels, featuring Western US regional champions, World Championship performers, as well as up-and-coming younger racers in the sport of gravity mountain biking. As part of the deal, the riders will race under the name Team SolVista / Commencal USA for the entire 2009 season on a fleet of 2009 Commencal Supremes, Supreme DH, and Meta 4x bikes.

The SolVista Bike Park at Granby Ranch, just an hour and a half from Denver, will become the second US bike park to accept Commencal USA's corporate sponsorship. SolVista will be the site of this year's US National Championships to be held July 16-19, 2009. Commencal sponsorship will be evident throughout the park but, most importantly, visitors will be able to ride high-spec Commencal bikes as part of SolVista's Elite Demo program. By pre-arrangement with Commencal USA sales, rental customers will also receive redeemable vouchers for discounted bike purchases at participating Commencal dealers throughout the front range.

"The more people ride these bikes, the more they recognize how truly amazing they are." says Mike Raney, Commencal USA sales manager. "We're really pleased to have yet another venue for people to get out and try the bikes in their element. It's fantastic to have Team SolVista onboard as ambassadors for the brand in the US."

"We feel very fortunate to be riding for Commencal USA in 2009," enthuses SolVista Bike Park Director and race team manager Matt Thompson. "My guys cannot wait to ride our new bikes. Similarly, we are very excited to welcome Commencal to our Elite Demo Fleet at SolVista. They'll take their rightful place alongside some of the best mountain bikes in the world."

SEE THEM AT SEA OTTER-
The BTI/ Commencal booth at this year's Sea Otter Classic promises to be a beehive of activity as it will provide race support for both the European and American Commencal racing teams. We encourage everyone to come out and meet Team SolVista, the Athertons and special guests. Members of the press are strongly encouraged to RSVP in advance for interviews with the athletes between events.

i've seen most of them with cracks at some point or another,
i've never seen one break in half, although i'm sure they have.
i know in canada they are useless for warranty support, which leaves people with no choice but to ride them with cracks till the season is over because it takes months to deal with the warranty process.
even one of their pro riders couldn't get parts for his broken frame, and he had to get some machine shop to make a competely new chainstay/swingarm out of machined aluminum.
sounds pretty gay to me.
theres lots of bikes out there that aren't shitty on warranty. just buy one of them and leave these for france
