Cove Bikes and Riding with Steve Smith and Tyler Morland
March 17, 2008Published by bruleLast week I had the opportunity to meet up with Tyler Morland and Steve Smith of Cove Bikes for a few hours and watch them rip it up. While I waited for them to get some new decals on their race steeds I was also able to do a walk through of the Cove shop for all you to check out.
Here's some video and pics of the day: Cove Bikes of North Vancouver is the frame supplier for these two rippers. Here is a video walk through of the store and some pics to show you what's going on inside the walls of Cove Bikes. Video Walk Through: Pics from the small frame supplier's depths: Once the guys were done tinkering and Stuart was done applying new decals and spit polishing the bikes, it was time to hit the trails. Steve's buddy Keith Frajman was along for the ride and was reppin' his High School basketball team jersey for the rides. In between laps I had a chance to ask the guys who's helping them out this year, and why the hell does Tyler's lady friend Andrea let him keep growing that creepy caterpillar on his upper lip. Steve Smith: I'm 18 year's off age and love pinning it on my two wheeler. Training laps with my team mates keeps me on my toes. I want to thank Red Bull, Cove Bikes, SRAM, RockShox, Avid, Truvativ, Oakley, Troy Lee Designs, Five Ten Shoes, Crank Brothers, Maxxis and Sun Ringle for keeping me running smoothly. As for Tyler's creepy mustache, I think Andrea love's the slug. Peer studly-ness! And it's the tickler. That may be inappropriate, but that's my guess for it. Tyler Morland: Well I'm old at 27 years now and only here to keep Steve in line! I love racing my bike and seeing how hard I can push it in the corners-it's all about the corners folks. I want to thank SRAM, RockShox, Avid, Truvativ, Cove Bikes, Troy Lee Designs, Chromag, WTB, Zodiac Watches, Dakine, Crankbrothers, Maxxis, NRG, Oakley and Whistler Mountain bike park. Ok my mustache is not creepy and she loves it because it's soft and gets longer by the day. Check out the video which might just be cut to the best riding song ever!: The 2008 season is looking to be a good one for Tyler and Steve. Thanks for the good day boys and best of luck this year. -Ty |

Ty you were in North Van and didn't call me, you are so cyber busted.
Maybe cove should update their website... it's still the 2006 site
.. there are no information about the std and the new hustler (? i mean the dw-link xc-bike redesign)
luv that cove shocker
Does Cove have a new website? I'm only seeing what Ben-P was, the 2006 stuff, that's just not cool!
The shop, bikes and riders are all sick!
wow, they sure do shread it up.
I think coves website has hurt their business in a few ways. A friend of mine was trying to find info on their site for the STD, gave up and bought a Rocky mtn.
right!cove bikes web site i'ts sucks..only old stuff there...
your probably the f*g, f*g.
Wow the boys are looking to be in top form, good luck guys. Love the little air push over at the base of the tree (11sec). Buttery flow.
The products in Cove have always been great but I've only had two decent experiences in the store. Every other time I've gotten a lot of attitude. If I walk through the door of any other shop, they treat me like a customer, like I'm valuable to them. In Cove, I have to prove that I know what I'm talking about before they'll treat me like anything close to an equal. I look for three things in a shop: good customer experience/service, great product, and accountability. Cove delivers on the product, but they need to really step it up in the other two areas. From conversations I've had over the past few years, this seems to be a common opinion. If the employees could just leave their egos at home, Cove could be one of the best shops on the shore. Until then, I'll check them out once in a while, but I'll spend my money elsewhere.
nice report and pictures. and mustaches are cool, you have no plan man!
