New York, December 29th – Danny MacAskill and his famous Youtube video made it far and not only in the biking industry. After being interviewed by the BBC, the London Sunday Times and other mainstream media in the last eight months, Danny has now been featured in his biggest publication yet: He is showcased in today’s New York Times in the Sports section of the prestigious American newspaper.

Danny MacAskill, the 24-year-old Scottish street trial rider, got famous almost over night through the April, 2009 famous Youtube video, filmed and edited by Dave Sowerby.

Since then Danny had various requests from bike and mainstream media, commercial requests, TV shows, such as “Britain's Got Talent” or “Ellen DeGeneres." Now his biggest print interview to date appears today, Tuesday 29th December, in the New York Times. Journalist Carol Wallace interviewed Danny for the Times with more in-depth questions than in previous media reports about him.

Read the article and get an idea about Danny’s life before and after the posting of the video, and see the impact of capturing his pure passion for bike riding on one single video that was seen around the World Wide Web.

In the next days you should be able to read a similar article in the International Herald Tribune!

Because some people on PB have nothing better to do than sit and be f*gs on their computer and when they neg prop people it gives them the slight feeling of being a tiny bit better than someone else even when they aren't, when they're just sad friendless people who want someone to say they did something right because in the real world all THEY ever get is "neg props". Neg prop me if you want bit that's how it is, and you know that's how it is, so don't say its not.

it's so awesome to see that he was in the news paper.
as bikers, we think that everyone knows about our sport what we do. unfortunately, it's not that way yet. this definitely had to have helped.
and who could have been a better representative then Danny himself?

no don't take this the wrong way. this dude is one of the sickest riders out there. but, the article said he has been credited with finding this style of riding. it seems that they have over looked what leech and lenosky have done before him. when all is said and done he is a sick rider but in my opinion guys have been riding like this for years. made props to him way to come up in the world overnight. thank god for technology

To the guy who said that danny started trials in the uk, please be quiet you're making a fool of yourself. Martyn Ashton, Martin Hawyes, Ed tongue, chris akrigg, danny holyroyd all rode trials before MacAskill made his recent videos. They're the ones who got coverage in MBUK magazine and made trials a big name in the uk, MacAskill is just the latest (and admittedly most talented so far). He has certainly gotten the most attention for bike trials but he was never the originator of the sport.

heres a chris akrigg video to show that danny isnt the only trials rider making good vids. Also chris isn't using brakes in this clip

Good to see our sport getting more mainstream attention, and Danny is the perfect person to represent us. How many people can manual backwards, stop, then wheelie away forwards without the front wheel touching the ground?

Flawless, jaw-dropping control of the bicycle in some of the most creative ways I have ever seen. The flow that DM rides with while transitioning between his sets is the best I've ever seen. Admittedly, I'm not a huge trials fan but have been blown away but what has been possible. Danny has shown that moving the needle much further is still attainable. I didn't think it was possible but he has done it and deserves all the respect in the world. I look forward to seeing someone come up with more creativity and control on a bike but I'm not sure it's possible unless he competes against himself.

Well done Danny!

A.

that is just something out of this world, there are people riding as good as him and probably doing the same stunts, but damn he makes is look so perfect!!!

unclesmokey84 i believe the problem in that affirmation is the lack of background check by part of the media, but yes, i agree with you in that matter!

but the riding, just superb!

whoever bigtard is your name says it all! im not hating on this video its epic, but people are as good as him and the editing combined with his skill is what makes the video so good , alot of his tricks are good but not amazing that have been taken from an easy enviroment such as skateparks to different terrain such as the flair of the tree , 360 down the big set of stairs, tailwhips all over the place. im not hating on him at all i just think its slighlty messed up how he has had so much exposure because of this video when people are doing the same stuff mayby not as good as danny but still worthy of some of what dannys had.
