This past Halloween weekend marked the end of the 2010 bike park season at Diablo Freeride park in Vernon, New Jersey. Lots of riders were out in costume to celebrate the festivity, here are some pictures from the weekend and an edit from the closing weekend too.

Quick question.... If this was filmed the last few days of the season for Diablo, why the hell do they close so early?!?! That looked like great ridin weather to me.

 They have to shut down the hill to prep it for ski season (digging drainage, patching erosion, etc).

 they could easily stretch out 2 more weekends, Platty is open a week later and is further north.
What is even more stupid is Blue, PA aka Verticle Earth closed the same weekend. If they were smart they would stay open 2 more weeks

 there's generally a huge amount of work that goes into preparing a ski area the size of mountain creek for winter. repair and testing of snowmaking equipment, chairlifts, slope maintenance, terrain park work, etc. etc... not to mention the teardown of the bike park/summer activities. our bike park closed on october 24, and it's going to be tight trying to get the mountain open for winter on november 20, in our department at least.

 that may sometimes be the case, but most east coast ski areas want to at least be READY to open by around thanksgiving. my point is that these places aren't just throwing darts at a calendar.
