Bike Thieves in Kamloops ruin one teams weekend!
May 18, 2008Published by bruleWell the BC Cup race series officially kicked off this past weekend in Kamloops with Race the Ranch. It brought racers from all over Alberta, British Columbia and even racers from Washington State came out to rip up the new course at the Kamloops Bike Ranch. Unfortunately the race seems to have attracted some low lifes too in the sense of BIKE THIEVES!
Fellow riders do what you can to ward off the bad people and keep your bike yours, but even the best preparedness is no match for criminal thieves. Our good friends at Dunbar Cycles were attending the race this weekend and had their team trailer broke into and this is the note I just got from them: ($2500 Reward for the return of the bikes) Six bikes were stolen from the Dunbar team trailer in Kamloops in the early hours of Saturday 17th of May 2008. i wish i could find these bitches for you but im alittle far away, but kill em if u see them
thy're organized here, my friends neighbour had his stolen. There was a witness to it that said there were 2 guys both with walkie talkies and clipboards. Apparently (probably a false rumour) is that there's this guy that you ask for a bike, any bike, and he'll get it, for low costs.
it doesn't have to be a rumour, there are guys who do this with cars, so why not with bikes. some people do it as a 'job' (?!$&@!?) so they are professionals (?!$&@!?) really hard to stop.
it is true, when my house was broken into they knew right where i kept it locked. they went in and stole all my gear but fortunatly i was lazy the night before and left the bike in the garden shed. my neighbour said she saw two men out in the alley with radios.
Heres a solution that comes to mind. If a town is in heat for stolen bikes, do you think you can cooperate with the police and setup traps for thieves? Leave a nice bike somewhere and spy on it. Someone is bound to steal it, by then we'll be ready. The more thieves caught, they more we take those kind of people off the streets and into jail. Not to mention, other thieves will be wary of stealing a bike.
i think its just disgusting that people would steal a bike its much more than money its a part of you if ur bike gets stolen its like they have stolen a part of life hopefully these people can be brought to justice
My mates went gokarting and left there bikes out the front locked, just as some 25ish year old was taking off on one of them, they were alerted, my mate chased him down on the other bike tackled him down, dragged him back to the track and we all lined up and gave it to him.. my mate whos bike it was gave him the best fly kick.. haha.
BRING BIKE THIEVES DOWN!!!
BRING BIKE THIEVES DOWN!!!
actually you should also look at the pink bike classifieds thats where I found my bike last year, When I e-mailed pink bike about the situation I was told they couldn't help me. Lucky for me I was able to contact the seller and set up a fake buy where I busted the mothers. It is the very definition of satisfaction to see the person who stole your bike being arrested, The sob was crying when they put him in the squad car. I hope you get your bikes back sorry to hear of your loss.
Yeah I know, I got a little spooked myslef with bike thieves, I live on an acreage in northern Alberta, in the miuddle of a hamlet, and one day I left the garage door open. My bro and mom where stil in the house, and I was only gone for like half an hour, but when I got back my new 2008 Cowan had been parked backwards with dog crap smeared on the seat. Nobody in my house did it, and we can only guess some little prick stole it for a quick joyride, but now I'm paranoid, because if they where brave enough to do that, they could have taken it. Get your bike registered with the RCMP, and keep a laminated photo of the bike with the serial number, model information and contact info so you have something to give to the cops if you're bike is stolen. Remember, the police are your friend when your bikes stolen. And always keep a good cable lock with you, they take the longest to cut through, as you can;t use bolt cutters on them.
Sorry to hear. True story. Once there was a bike thief targeting our town, he had proven himself quick and ballsy with numerous high end grabs. One day we set him up with what looked like gravy grab but we had placed razor blades on the bars and seat. He didn't get too far! We never had a problem after that.
No Mercy for bike thieves
Keep your eyes on them and lock them up in your house even.

That really sucks, I had my bike stolen out of my pick-up when i went threw the drive-thru or McDonalds. Some prick grabbed it out of the back when i was getting food and took off, i caught him though and gave him a beat down.
Just out of curiosity is it a 2500 reward for each bike or the whole lot, because if someone broke in to steal all of them I'm guessing they knew how much their worth.....since stealing it off a rack or on the ground is much easier :2cents:

dude i f*cking hate thieves! i got my hand built bmx stolen a cupple months ago and i was walking around with a piece of concrete in my hand willing to kill the person if i found them. so i know how it feels guys im sry. If i could help i totally would. so if i see them in Cali ill break there necks haha
f*ckING gay a*sholes and what happens is that they get away with a ticket or put in jail for a couple of months
I hope they read this and see what people think of them, not to mention the grievous bodily harm people feel they should get. So, if your reading this theives, when the time comes, it's gonna be unpleasant for you, and you totally deserve whatever people do to you. Remember, you asked for it in the end..................
the thing is though, the theithes probably wont go to jail for stealing a bike, although they should do. they will end up getting some kind of fine or community work at the most, thats how it would work over here, but thats why they keep doing it again and again cos they know a slap on the wrist is all they will get. i dont know how it works over in canada or america etc etc, but if they do go to jail, catch those mother truckers and send em down
