Elka Suspension of Quebec, Canada, is now accepting sponsorship applications for the 2010 season. Last year, Elka made its debut in the mountain bike scene with its Stage 5 rear shock to rave reviews. Utilizing its long history of technological advancements in the motorsports industry, the Stage 5 delivers unsurpassed performance with a custom tune – a unique feature to a suspension manufacturer.

More info inside,

The Stage 5 mountain bike shock is specifically designed, engineered and custom-tuned for downhill, freeride and all-mountain riding. It provides a well-balanced combination of plushness, pedaling performance and comfort with an ultra-wide range of adjustability for any riding style and application.
Elka Suspension was founded in 2000 by the association of the three current owners. In its first years, the company focused mainly on performance and racing ATVs. Elka quickly became one of the leading suspension manufacturers with their unique philosophy: They believe every customer deserves the same high-quality products and attention as any professional racer, regardless of their riding abilities. They believe that professional racers are not the only ones who deserve the performance of a custom-built suspension system. What works for them should also be put to work for you.

Elka utilizes valuable racing experience to develop advanced shock absorbers and make them available to everyone. Today, Elka Suspension is a successful company and yet remains true to its roots: designing and manufacturing of high-quality suspension components that address the specific needs of each customer.

Elements of the Stage 5 shock include:

•Bike-specific custom valving
•Intuitive, easy to use adjustments with wide usable range
•High-volume external reservoir which allows massive oil flow
•Hi-Tensile Steel Alloy Spring (10-15% lighter than standard steel springs)
•Exclusive long-lasting polymer composite DU bushings
•Hard-anodized aluminum shaft, body, main piston and reservoir
•Durable premium-quality seals, o-rings and wearbands
•Micro cellular urethane bumper (MCU)
•Detailed CNC-machining work and smooth anodized finish
•Compatible with standard size springs and mounting hardware

Technology:

•Concentric dual-circuit high/low-speed compression device
•High-flow hydraulic internals
•Proven technology derived from our knowledge in powersports racing

First of all, I want to personally thank you all for the great comments towards our company and our products.

Secondly, the amount of sponsorship requests I have received has been overwhelming, so I ask for you understanding and patience in case you do not hear back from me immediately. I do promise to get back to each and every applicant in the shortest delay possible, but I do wear many hats with Elka and have to split my schedule in 4 to be able to tackle all of my responsibilities...and I do have to feed myself on top of it. Smile

Thanks again for your understanding and continued support, and as we say in the Motorcycle industry, keep the rubber side down!!

Regards,

John Ilkiw

I love how there hasn't been a single negative comment! They seem to be making an excellent product, backing it up with awesome service, and offering it all at a decent price. Nice work guys, hopefully I'll be rocking a Stage 5 soon Salute.

Agreed, I am running one and really can't think of a bad thing to say about them. The Elka Shock and 5.10's are probably the two best biking investments I've made.

Putting the stage 5 on the back of my bike was the single best improvement I have ever made on my rig. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about it. Fantastic small bump compliance, great big hit absorption. It allowed me to run way more sag and run the rear softer without having to worry about bending anything like my old shock which would bottom out.

I only wish they made stuff for my truck Big Grin

Uber-shock!Wink I run it since last summer and it works perfectly (I'd like the spring to have bigger diameter because it rub against the shock sometimes but it happens not only to elka'sWink).

such a sick company! they know how to run buisness. does anyone know 9 x 2.5??

flag John-Elka (Jan 20, 2010 at 12:02)
At this time, the closest we have is a 9 X 2.75, but let us know what bike it is for and we will contact the manufacturer and get some technical specs to see if we can custom build it.

Dude this guys can custom build all kind of rear shocks!
They made one for my prototype that is in developing.
I hope the shock will arrive in Feb, vut what I can say about this company are just good things. They support new talents and they are really doing well their job!
Was incredible to see Elka shocks on some Czech Republic team quads on the Rally Dakar in Chile, when I been in the Bivouac.
An people was talking a lot about those shocks, and some comments was: "So good! Pity that are not yet making suspension for the cars and trucks!"
I bet that would be the next step for Elka
Also would be freat to see some day bike forks and air shocks!

just curious, are you guys ever going to consider making a fork?

flag freeridelegend (Jan 20, 2010 at 17:34)
theyre not allowed to, they would hold a monopoly on all mountain bike suspension parts, all other bike suspension companies would go out of business...

Are you kidding??? then how to fox, marzocchi, manitou, dt swiss, rockshox and all Other companies do it?? Fox specializes is front and rear suspension in trucks, snowmobiles, ATVs, dirt Bikes...from your definition, this is like a monopoly x 10! and also, Elka will never be as big of a company as Fox Racing Shocks
