EDMONTON - A massive fire fanned by strong winds destroyed a south-side store and threatened a neighboring car dealership this afternoon, causing a total of $3 million in damages.

Around 3 p.m., staff at River Valley Cycle at 6945 75th Street noticed a small fire in the back storage room in a container with high-end mountain bikes inside.

NWD 8-Smack Down premiere in Vancouver

Freeride Entertainment's latest and greatest mountain bike film, NWD 8 "Smack Down", will have it's Vancouver screening at the Sonar Night Club this Thursday Oct. 11th. Freeride has spent the last year travelling to such exotic locations as Israel, Argentina, Europe, Utah and of course BC to capture the most progressive and scenic riding in the world. Shot on Super 16mm and High Definition,the film stars British Columbia and Vancouver locals Ben Boyko, Robbie Bourdon, Darren Berrecloth, Wayne Goss, Kurt Sorge, Wade Simmons and Richie Schley. Along with the rest of the world's best racers, freeriders and dirt jumpers, have thrown down their best moves to create New World Disorder 8.

July 30th, 2007, Whistler, Canada: After a great win in Crankworx, a triple fracture to my right foot shortened my stay in Canada. A bad injury turned my trip back to Europe into a real challenge. More importantly the diagnosis was alarming: 6 to 8 weeks seemed to be the needed time to recover and the World Championships were one month away. This is unfortunately a scenario that I know too well since it is identical to last year.

Fat Face goes urban in Edinburgh City Centre with the huge new Night Ride event. Over 250 top-level mountain bike riders from all over the country will take to the streets, stairways and alleyways for THE WORLDS 1ST URBAN DOWNHILL AT NIGHT RACE.

An opportunity to show the public what the sport of Downhill Mountain biking is all about but with the added twist of with swapping the mountains of Scotland for the city streets & steps of Edinburgh.

30 Haro Demo Bikes Stolen

Not so happy Monday everyone….

Sorry this isn’t in “official” press release format, but I just wanted to get the info out as quickly as I could.

Over the weekend (9/29-9/30), our trailer and rental Penske van were broken into while parked here at our Vista, CA headquarters. About 30 mountain bikes were stolen that were used at Interbike On Dirt Demo last week.

Brodie ClimbMax Winner announced at Plastiglass Ontario Cup.

One lucky young racer was chosen on September 16th this year as the winner of a brand new 2007 Brodie ClimbMax xc rig. In an effort to support the development of young talent Brodie Bicycles, in conjunction with race promoters Chico Racing, decided to dangle a carrot for the young rippers on the Ontario circuit. We cut our teeth on the race course back in the day, with some of the very first canadian licensed racers on the Grundig World Cup and Norba circuits; it’s time to get back to our roots.

Aaron Wells wins his dream bike.

Aaron Wells from Virginia, USA recently opened his Kranked 6 DVD to find the Golden Disk.

"The thing is sooooooooo sweet!!!", said Aaron after receiving his bike. "I worked a 10 hour shift yesterday and was so excited to ride the bike that I built it up and rode it till it got too dark outside to see."

Matti Lehikoinen Update - Injury Status and the signing with The MS- Intense Factory Racing Team

The latest news is all good news as Matti ends his 2nd day in hospital. The doctors have confirmed that there is no risk of paralysis and that a decision on whether or not to operate, will be taken on Monday.

Matti had his catheter removed, was able to sit up for a small time and eat, and with the assistance of a special walking crutch/frame, was able to walk(!) a short distance to the bathroom.
