Last editted Nov 28, 2008 at 13:18
Source: Kat Popma

Over the past year, it has been impossible to miss seeing the Crankbros 50/50 pedals out on the hills. They are probably the sleekest looking pedals on the market. So when I was able to to test ride my own set this summer, I was really excited.

Ogio 9800 Gear Bag Review.

Last editted Nov 28, 2008 at 13:06
Source: Kat Popma

Ogio's 9800 Moto gear bag is luggage done the MX way. It is made to withstand a biker's beating with its tough material, zippers, and buckles. Packing mountain bike or motocross gear is a heavy job, so Ogio equipped the 9800 with its SLED system (structural load equalizing deck)to make handling easy. Equipped with oversized wheels and a retractable pullman handle for maneuverability, the bag's multiple grab handles and straps make it breeze to secure for road trips.

Letters From a Tour Manager - Seasons tour.

Last editted Nov 14, 2008 at 12:38

Being stuck in an office with two guys staring at computers for 12 hours a day for 4 months can really start to wear on you. Jamie Houssian and Darren McCullough had certainly not been ideal co-workers. When I first talked to Donny about running his premiere tour for The Collective’s new film “Seasons”, I thought to myself, this is going to be great - working with a couple of bros, going for coffee and lunch, beers after work - I was stoked. Man was I wrong. Maybe I didn’t realize what goes into editing a mountain bike film, but I ended up working with the likes of a couple of suits downtown trying to “make it”. Crazy hours, limited convo, heated film debates, and a general lack of mountain cycling.

Banshee Scythe Review

Last editted Oct 28, 2008 at 17:00
Source: Ryan Kuhn and Action shots by Vince Boothe

The scythe is an enduring symbol of the harvest. It is also a symbol of death – the Grim Reaper of Christian lore and Kali, the Hindu Goddess of Death, carry Scythes. When it comes to a bike built for launching one’s self with abandonment and railing at eye-watering speeds, this is a bit unnerving. Fortunately, [L=http://www.bansheebikes.com]Banshee’s[/L] take on the Scythe is a lot more like the useful tool of yore – it is sharp, simple and durable. You can reap your just rewards.

Red Bull Rampage - The Evolution - Standings after first run!

Last editted Oct 6, 2008 at 14:55
Source: Ross Measures

Just got a text from Ross out in the desert heat and after the first run, your Red Bull Rampage leader is Kurt Sorge and Thomas Vanderham is sitting in second, and the Cedric Gracia could be in third but the load speaker was hard to hear over while up on the hill. They are all heading back up the mountain for their second runs to see who will take home the big win at the 2008 Red Bull Rampage - The Evolution.

Rampage Day 1 - Digging and two bike checks with Rampage new comers.

Last editted Oct 2, 2008 at 21:34
Source: Ross Measures

I just got back from the first day at Red Bull Rampage: Evolution, needless to say, it's jaw dropping. There are lines flowing everywhere, starting high above on two ridges aimed towards a central gully, with drops, steeps, loose corners and billy goat lines along the way. When all the riders got here this morning the lower half of the course had quite a few lines already sculpted out for them by Big Red Ted and his crew of Kenny, Adam and a few others.

Silveroxx 2008 - Recap

Last editted Aug 21, 2008 at 21:36

This Silveroxx Festival was by far the best ever, I know this because I had the privilege of participating in every event and got to interact and talk to the majority of entrants. We had plenty of people entered in all three events and everything rolled along nice and smooth.

Banshee Scythe - Built for burl and hurl

Last editted Aug 21, 2008 at 18:33

Midway through the 2008 season, the DH race beast sunk its fangs deep into my blood. I suddenly had a burning desire to get on the track as much and as soon as possible. However, the limiting factor was I had dumped all my cash early in the season on a new “all mountain” ride more apt to the single track of my hometown of Rossland, B.C.

Once again the folks in Ferndale Washington have broken the mold on bicycle design. Transition Bikes latest hit comes in the form of a female specific freeride frame titled the Syren. So how does Transition define a freeride female specific bike? Simply by building a bike with the help of 30 female rippers based on the current trends they are seeing in all-mountain fun. A bike designed for bike parks, local trail networks and of course epic singletrack.

Canadian Nationals - from the rider's side of the bars.

Mont Sainte Anne has one of the world's best Downhill courses, high speed with some serious tech!

There was no way I was going to miss this year’s Canadian National Championships. A staple of the World Cup Series since 1994, you see it in film after film and it’s a killer part in Seasons by the Collective. Mont Sainte Anne was amazing to race against the best in the country.

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort – 8 years breeding a winner

Last editted Jul 12, 2008 at 15:08

Saddled up and whippin’ it!

Back in the day – 2001 to be precise – Kicking Horse was a raw, untamed beast. There was a brand new gondola spanning a sparse base area to an upstart and elegant Eagle’s Eye Restaurant at 7,700 feet – Canada’s “most elevated dining experience.” It was the infrastructure of dreams, linking 3,700’ of raw alpine, sub-alpine and densely treed vertical. It was, by all accounts, a wild stallion.

Arduum Challenge 2008

Last editted Jun 24, 2008 at 17:41
Source: Simon Stevenson

Well summer is here and as the temperature starts to heat up so does the race season. The Arduum Challenge was held this past weekend and the challenge was to get down the course without damage to bike or body. On Saturday I heard the count on toasted wheels was up to twenty and there was more added to that list on Sunday. I know at least one frame got broken and I did see a couple of people in slings. The good part is that if you talk to any of those people I bet every one of them will tell you they had a great time on and off the race track and are already planning their returns for next season.
