Gulevich, Brule, and Splinter - Washington and Oregon Road Trip.

Last editted Apr 2, 2008 at 13:23
It's early spring and time for an early season road trip to dryer(we hope) zones. My buddy James Splinter from Teslin Yukon wanted to do a road trip since last fall and has been couped up in the Arctic deep freeze he calls home for months. He even wrangled Geoff Gulevich into joining us for the trip south to Washington and Oregon.

Check out what we got up to on Day 1 and 2:

The 2008 Alberta Freeride Awards are in the bag for another year and what a night it was!

Last editted Mar 17, 2008 at 21:39
This past weekend I had the pleasure of jumping on a plane and flying out to Calgary Alberta to hang out with all my old friends and take in the Sixth Annual Alberta Freeride Awards. The AFAs came about to honor riders that are killing it in their own fields with a heavy liking for gravity riding. Each year C.O.P. hosts the event and there is a killer biker cross event that precedes the awards ceremony aka party.

Check out the whole event in photos and video here.

Last week I had the opportunity to meet up with Tyler Morland and Steve Smith of Cove Bikes for a few hours and watch them rip it up. While I waited for them to get some new decals on their race steeds I was also able to do a walk through of the Cove shop for all you to check out.

Here's some video and pics of the day:

An introduction with the Rocky Mountain Slayer SXC 90

Last editted Feb 28, 2008 at 13:59
The Slayer from Rocky Mountain Bicycles has been in the line up for a bit now and it continues to evolve and turn into a all mountain XC machine! With over 6 inches of Fox damped travel at both ends you'd have called this a DH rig years ago, but today's technology has allowed a bike like this to be nimble like an XC racer and still bomb the single track descents with ample confidence. As the snow melts in the Fraser Valley, more and more lower laying trails are becoming exposed and ready for tires to set down treads on them. The Rocky Slayer SXC 90 is ready to get out there.

Troy Lee Designs Chito Helmet - At least I look fast......

Last editted Feb 21, 2008 at 15:48
“Well Tyler, at least you look fast”……I’ll always remember those words that Shaums spoke to me while heading to the chair at Silver star resort last season. There I was in my riding “kit” which consisted of 5.10 shoes, socks pulled way up high (might as well ride in pants), TLD knee pads, Sombrio Pinner shorts, Pinkbike.com jersey over Dainese armor, TLD XC gloves, Spy goggles and the number one item I’m often found wearing while biking-My 2005 Troy Lee Designs Tank Helmet in Olive Green. “Yes Shaums you are right, I do look fast!”

ODI grips have landed and will be in good hands for 2008

Last editted Jan 28, 2008 at 21:16
The first of the 2008 Pinkbike.com/Devinci downhill team sponsor products has found its way through the office doors. ODI lock on grips will keep the team's hands from spinning on the bars and their bikes looking good. ODI is the top choice for lock on grips and we're proud to have them on board for 2008.

Check out all the colors that the team will be rockin' this year:

Fresh Meat cuts from the local corner store.

Last editted Jan 20, 2008 at 15:09
Fresh Meat is always about the nice new shiny bits that we're trying out or want to show you from around the industry. But what about when we get hungry or need some stuff? Sometimes you're on a road trip and forget things, like gloves. So you go to the local bike shops and you drop your hard earned cash on parts. Here are some of the parts that I've bought on recent trips or seen and thought-hell ya I want/need that for one of my bikes or for me to make my riding more enjoyable. Have a look at the Shift Strike gloves, the Lizard Skin's Charger grips, Dakine's Cross X gloves, North Face's Jacket, Chromag's Seat Post Quick Release, Sombrio's Forensic Glove and of course my Goodyear MTR tires.

B-Rocket 99 Rocking the Valley -Transition's Bottle Rocket Build

Last editted Nov 20, 2007 at 19:16
My idle hands have been itching for a build up again, so that is what I did. Since I am in no position to drop a lot of dough on a new bike, I decided to take my parts that were on my hard tail that isn't going to see any use this winter and look at squishy frame options to swap the parts to for a winter Vedder machine. I was looking for a short travel frame that was front derailleur capable, would accept a 135x10mm rear wheel and handle a 6" single crown fork all while stoking me out during this fall/winter riding season that is upon us.

Pimp my Pedal! - DMR's V12 Set Screw and End Cap upgrade kit.

Last editted Nov 14, 2007 at 12:15
Buying new pedals is such a tough decision to make due to all the options out there. Most of the time we have to buy a new set because the old ones are broke, worn out or just so beat up that you feel bad and really want to retire them. Here is a tale of making a set of old faithful pedals look good again and no spray can was needed.(ok maybe a sharpee was used a bit)

Enjoy the most anticipated PB Customs video yet!

Story, pictures and results from the Arduum Challenge 2007

Last editted Oct 22, 2007 at 20:59
The 1st ever Arduum Challenge took place this past weekend just north of Mission B.C. at Red Mountain and it was AWESOME! Sure it was obviously the wettest race I've ever attended, but all the racers, volunteers and spectators made it such a great feeling event that I can't wait until the next one out there. Racers from Washington, the lower mainland, the Fraser and Whistler Valleys all came out to take on the course that was built to challenge them. And it did!

Williams Lake 2007 - The Right Hand Road Trip - (Part 2 of 2)

Last editted Oct 18, 2007 at 14:34
Day 2-

I awoke to the smell of bacon (is there any food better?)-mmmmmm bacon! It had started raining a bit, so we were all in slow motion today. Even Harley the dog had a sweater on this morning and Kat required Fruit Loops to get her rolling. Shreddies neighbor stopped by to check out Mike’s Delica and managed to fix all the light problems while he was there-thanks man! Once the whole crew awoke from their slumber and we were packed up for another day it was off to town with us to pick up Cory, as he’d be our Desous shuttle driver this morning.

Williams Lake 2007 - The Right Hand Road Trip - (Part 1 of 2)

Last editted Oct 17, 2007 at 12:40
On the weekend of September 15, 16 and 17, a group of friends set out to get their ride on in Williams Lake B.C. The plan was set into action a few weeks prior and Johnny Smoke of Bush Pilot Biking was enlisted to show the riders a good time. There were 3 Puddle virgins on the trip and I am a little inexperienced to say the least to be guiding anyone, plus Smoke’s knowledge of all things local is great. Riders from the Island, the North Shore and the Fraser Valley all left Friday night after work and began the trip to Shreddie's place. Here is their story:
