Goat Style this weekend in Creston BC
May 29, 2008Published by bruleCreston BC is the place to be this coming weekend with the Goat Style Bike Festival rolling into town. The crew has been building like mad and it's looking to be an amazing show this year.
Have a look at some of the shots Gord and his crew sent my way: Goat Style Bike Festival is a two-day event this year, filled with riding, movies, concerts, demos, tech demonstrations, play station playoffs, and more. An atmosphere has been created, welcoming riders of all levels, supporting crowds with entertainment and functionality. Vendors are there to show off why “they're” the best company, of course with lots of swag up for grabs. As Mountain biking grows amongst its riders, the progression of this sport continues to rise to what viewers think as the last possible level. But every year we see new ways to how mountain bikes are twisted and thrown into the air, or gapping such obstacles that they might as well have wings. There is no end to where this sport can go, only more creative ways that lay within the obsessed minds. The Friday evening of May 30th, , 6pm-8pm, registration will open for the Goat Style Slopestyle event. Saturday morning May 31st registration will open from 9am-11am. However, we encourage all competitors to pre-register with incentive of discounted fees as well as a free t-shirt. From there, the sky becomes the limit. The slopestyle event will begin at 10am. Finals will be held on Sunday June 1st, 10am. Every year Goat Style has grown. It's seen history and broken records. This year, it's going to be big. It's going to be an event, yet again, that will be imprinted into the minds that share such enthusiasm. Mountain biking is growing. On May 31st, history will be stomped on and the bar will be risen with authority. Don't miss it. For details visit www.goatstylebikejam.com, or email info@goatstylebikejam.com. |

O shit !! Amazing Track
yup, it sure does look awesome
the song "2 tickets to paradise" just started playing in my head
That looks absolutley amazing!
we hardly have anything like that in Scotland :-(
we hardly have anything like that in Scotland :-(
yeah... because it is scotland. We have terrible riding in Kingston too.
no we do have stuff like that in scotland.. go to Falkland.. and perth is getting northshore too.. and pragerben.. scotland is the main place for mtb in the world remember.... fort william and other places...
7 stanes + fort william, pitfichies etc. we just done have anought slopestyle sort of thing.
Scotland is the home of UK mtb, really you can't say that there is no riding
"yeah... because it is scotland. We have terrible riding in Kingston too."
- What? Scotland has some of the best riding in the UK. I'd give my left nut to go ride THERE!!!
Pragerben, have you been to Scotland, ever?

I wouldn't call Scotland the main place for MTB in the world, I'd say Whistler is. Scotland does have good riding though, no doubt.
i think ill join in on this argument. scotland doesnt have many official freeride centres, ones that incorporate an entire mountain and have endless possibilities which can be achieved. we are limited to what we can build because of stupid health and safty regulations, the forestry commision and land owners. you want t find a sutiable hill? be my guest...
yeah the forestry commision is really strict. there was some northshore builat at kinnoul hill and they came and knocked it down because it "wasnt safe" when it was rock solid.. and they only just approved the wallride there because they think you cant fall off that.

HarryIsGod...sorry to hear your stuff got knocked down, but in the Forestry's defense, they have to be certain of build and material quality as well as environmental factors. What you may think is "solid and strong" really might not be, and in a year or so could be lethal...also, remember, they're the land owners and responsibility ultimately falls to them if anything goes wrong. They're a very biker-friendly organization (Fort Bill, 7Staines etc etc) but they have to make sure that the (volunteer)trail builders/managers they take on are responsible and dedicated...If it's worth doing, it's worth doing properly...it might take a bit longer, but the results will be much better and will last alot longer
yeah i do understand because they have allowed us to have a lot of stuff we didnt think would be there but im just saying their a bit strict when it comes to northshore.
It's because it's so new and there's no universal set of guidelines for building northshore etc...by the sounds of it, you (like us and the few other projects) are being used as sort of guinea-pigs...which is no bad thing. Think of it this way, what we build over the next few years will determine what happens in the future...we're basically writing the rulebook (with the FC)and setting the standard for all UK trail-builders...
Have faith...your vision will become a reality.

No offense...
but BC is the world capital for riding, not Scotland.
Forest is everywhere = Bikes are everywhere
Plus we have quite the roster when it comes to Pro's

so do we... Ben Cathro, Steve Peat.and we also have forests everywhere and same with bikes.. also we have the Scottish Downhill Assosiation.
none taken rage67. Tbh i agree with you, BC has undeniably led the way for mtb trail building and inspired countless riders and trail-builders around the world (myself included), and will probably always be one step ahead...just keep making the movies and providing the inspiration
No one said Scotland was the world capital for mtb, so why was that argument brought up. Bromers said "Scotland is the home of UK mtb, really you can't say that there is no riding" UK being the key word there!
haha u guys complaining about that...try riding on the east coast of canada...some good street but are biggest hill is a 60 second ride...
harryisgod actually said:
"scotland is the main place for mtb in the world remember...."
that's why the argument was brought up, i can read what bromers wrote

Oh shit this looks so awesome, it's gonna be such a sick comp.
Though I hope they're going to change the box thing in the second pic, doesn't look too strong.

Looks amazing! I'd give my left testicle to ride something like that!
If ever win the lottery I'll pay someone like Gravity Logic to build something like that for all us UK peeps! It will of course be in my backyard but hey, you'd all still get to ride it!
Yeah I know... keep dreaming!

yeah i wish i still lived in creston
pragerben wat r u on about scotland is one of the best places in the world for mtb. Ps that track looks so sick.
that is way better than last year
Scotland, just have a bit of patients, big things are happening!!
an uplift at inners and a (possible) new track at fort bill aint exactly encouraging slopestyle and freeriding, its more DH..
goatstyle is crazy!!!!!!!! cant wait to see it all go off!!!!
yhea to be honest scotland is mainly trails (dh/am/xc). There are a few freeride areas but nothing on such an extreme scale due to helath and safty ect :p.
we need stuff like this for the scene to progress over here.

TheTrack@Portreath is coming on well, and there's a couple big things on the cards in Wales...as well as the various local (official) stuff.....if only more riders were willing to pick up a spade and put in some money once in a while...it ain't cheap!!
ok, i've read all your comments from the UK...
if you don't have anything, do something about it
all of you who complain on here should get together and
find out what you can do rather than just sit on here
just like Darren B said:
"You think of something, you build it, you change it.
Freeride: do whatever you want."
Enough said...

I am doing something about it...i've got a nice bit of land from the foresty and we're busy building and raising money to build more. our group is also campaigning and fund-raising for a new skatepark...
The Darren B quote is a damn good one, but you have to remember the UK is a small, heavily populated island and most of it is privately owned which is why we rely so heavily on the good graces of the Forestry Commission...its all the red tape we're moaning about.

Damn, why don't you people post this stuff farther ahead than just the day before? I could have gone to this, but not with 12 hours notice.
does seem to be an annoying habit of late...kinda defeats the object of the site's goal to promote the sport better and get riders more involved. Come on PB, pull your finger out!
well if i had an endless supply of wood i would do the same thing
F*** you that track looks killer
