woooaaah super sweeet ride!!!! , i wonder if it'll take over from the m6 as next years team bike !??
meh i'm not totally sure about that it is a nice bike and all but the m6 has been there for years, i guess we'll just have to wait and see
nice ride, but I've never welded a thing in my life and some of those welds didnt look to pretty. Especially up by the head tube, yikes.
The first model to go on sale will be the FRO (for race only) with monocoque down tube and G3 dropouts – these allow you to adjust the chainstay length, bottom bracket height and head angle. It will cost approx. £2,249.
A less expensive (£1,979) standard model with a traditional down tube and fixed dropouts is in the pipeline. It will come with a Fox DHX RC2 rear shock. Both models will be available in three sizes and multiple colours – red, black, raw, white, green and blue.

Wannabe Sunday... Just because you put race components on a piece of metal doesnt make it a race bike.... I mean cmon.... $2700 FOR THE FRAME WTF ARE THEY STUPID???
At the booth they told me the M6 EVO was a prototype of the 951, but they also said that the 951 is lighter than the socom... that sounded a little off but maybe it's true

looks WAAAY better than that nasty Intense M6 although i hate when companies replace models every year instead of coming up with a 100% dialed bike in 1st place
This will not be replacing anything at this time. If anything, it'll be the bike that slowly replaces the Socom. The M6 is refined for 2009, so expect it to be around for a few years.
I hope they don't phase the Socom out. Lightweight DH race frames are awesome. The Socom looks so much better than the 951 anyway.

It says the frame will run 2700 american and that intense plans to release both FRO and normal version a little bit down the road. Apparently the normal version will be slightly cheaper

It's spelt "Shocker" and there are lot's of manufacturers coming up with models that look a lot like the Cove Shocker. Guess Cove got it right a few years ago. As for riding better than a Shocker I really can't see that while bikes like this and the Socom are fantastic looking machines and ride nicely they have had many issues. This FRO idea and making things silly light is great if you are a sponsored racer that only needs it to last one season, for everyone else it's useless. The Shocker is one of the most underated DH bikes around because people are obsessed with weight. However just going on the pictures it looks like Intense have got it just right with design and geometry.
Those welds are so bad it ruins the bike for me. If they can't pay attention to detail like welds, what else are they not paying attention to?

big welds are not necessarily better. the welds hardly every break. the tubing just beyond the weld does if at all. the even impact distribution on the frame vs a concentrated weak spot is whats important. welds that are too big may have exposed surrounding tubing to really high heats weakening them. depends on the entire process of the frame build, but just sayin
They don't smart ass, all I am saying is Yeti wasn't the first company to use their area code to name a specific product. SixSixOne based their entire companies name on their area code.

a weld will break if there is not enough penetration, but like he mentioned the breakage usually occurs right beside the weld in the heat affected zone.

consumer bike eh? I wonder if they are finally moving production to Taiwan? Not that there is anything wrong with that, but makes me think...
One day I said here in Pink Bike that the welds on my M3 was pretty twisted and ugly and than guys came to me and said that I was crazy, that I did not have nothing to do and stuff... now everyone can see that Intense do amazing bikes but the welds are very strange ugly. Those ones on the head tube are soooo ugly…. How can a brand with that name like Intense do welds shity ugly like that head tube???
looks like a cross breed between a socom , m6 and the old trek session 10 , the m6 has already changed to the evo so how long will it be before they change this ? and thats way expensive and there prices have gone up 20% since 07 , ha wont be buying another intense

messy welds, but it might be for a reason! extra stiffness? it is an Intense!! looks like a fun ride!
Messy welds" ,they are hand built or hand welded, if you like! Hello wake up,don't compare the perfection of a robot(when it comes to beauty) to the hand of a human(when it comes to attention to details, when welding) ,right?
i like the welds id prefer beffy welds to realy small ones, makes me more confident that the bike wont fall apart on me.... also does anyone else think it looks like a v10?
I got the chance to ride a 951 last Monday at a local Intense demo day and I have to say that it does ride pretty damn well. It felt nice and stable under me and the geo was pretty near spot on for my style. They only had a medium there so it was a little bit short for me (I'm about 6'2") but I could get away with it if I didn't need to sit and pedal much. The one thing I have against it is the welds. There was a blatent weld error right in the middle of the top tube. You'd think that when they send a $7000 bike to a demo day, they would at least send one that would pass quality control at most other bike companies.
I've actually never ridden an M6 or Socom so I can't compare to those, but I would say that it's performance is right up there with a V-10. It's definetly a race bike and you can feel it when riding, but I found it to be very fun. It's really slack, but for some reason still felt pretty poppy and responsive. That could be partially because it was a medium and I should be on a large, but from the short ride I got, I liked it.
