Jared Rando Bike Check
by brule
Posted: Jul 24, 2009
Jared is 28 and hails from Canberra Australia, but has been living in Huntington beach this season racing and testing bikes for Giant and suspension for Fox Racing Shox. He's on board the all new 2010 Giant Glory and this is the 4th revision he's seen to the frame since first receiving his first prototype last year. Weight was the biggest thing that Giant had to over come when creating the new Glory and by the looks of things, they have achieved just that. Jared's personal Saint and Fox equipped Glory was tipping the scales at approx. 38 pounds, so that tells us that Giant has shed the weight that was needed to be shed.

The new frame will have 8 inches of rear travel and with the newly designed and manipulated tubes, the rear shock will be very easy to access and adjust. Jared was enjoying the course and hoping for a non rainy track on Saturday, but if the worst happens he's stoked on his Fox
Suspension and said that it'll do its job fine and it'll be up to him to do the rest.

Amazing ride. love the new giants
It's not "basically a Sunday," it's still a Giant in as much as it's using a Maestro link and not a DW.
yeah that's right, all the bikes have a rear suspencion system, and maestro link that's used on giant, has been for this company for long now, the system is still the same only the frame had a renewal and it look's sick!
Seraph, it is "basically a sunday". the only thing different on the linkage is the bent lower link and other specs
"Bent lower link and other specs"
Since you are obviously a suspension guru, please explain how the Sunday and the New Glory are the same?.. If you knew anything, youd know that longer and bent bottom link makes for a different leverage ratio. Please emphazise more about those "other specs you speak of though...

im talkin bout the looks, not how it works. obviously its different. anyone in the biking world should know that no two bike designs work the same. i was tryin to say that if the lower link wasnt bent and shorter, it would look like the sunday, thats all
The Maestro and DW links are not dissimilar in that the top link on the former is a normal swingarm, not a vpp-style link like on the latter.
im pretty sure that they are going to be close to the same price as this year, maybe $100-$200 difference,
''its basicaly a sunday, except different bb, steer tube, and other specs'' than its not basically a sunday.....
to be honest it dosent really look like a sunday, like yeah if you want it do look like one it does, but imo it doesnt
eww, i hate it now, i loved giants because they were unique, the look was alot better, now they look so mainstream, i mean theres tons of bikes with the same basic design but there was only one with a penetrated down tube. and it also looks really skimpy, it doesnt look like it can take a beating like the old glory.
canadian that is so about $3431 for you guys in the UK ( i hope thats rite, not that good at converting)
Its actually an MSRP of 5999$ for the Glory 0(Shimano and Fox bits) and 4699$ for the Glory 1(Full SRAM).
Where did you see this MSRP because i work at the main giant dealer in canada and the guys from giant told us it is about $5000 give or take a few oh and btw it comes out in 2-4 weeks

Scroll allll the way down! Note that its a MSRP, Dealers may or will sell for less!

im pritty sure thats the 2012 faith prototyp well thats what the frame of the giant faith looks like on the giant web site if u go to news it says faiths are back and theres a pic and that what it looks like but black
looks pretty sick, it kinda looks like a session and sunday like morphed into one bike, but thats just me
the older prototype '10 glory had much better lines on the frame, not digging how the top tube is super narrow and kinked like that.
i`ve got an 09 glory and will be ordering one of these as soon as they come out. A lighter framed glory has to be a good thing.

i like the new design, however not to sure what to think about the cable routing. looks like having both cables hanging under the BB could be waiting for disaster
How could anybody possibly argue against something like this? I am starting to hold Giant in high esteem I am.
I've always liked Giant bikes (most models) and the new ones are sick in my opinion! Unfortunately I haven't seen them in person yet but from what I've seen so far I'm impressed!
i wouldnt know, havent ridden one. i'm not sure if you know how it feels, but if you think its perfect, sweet. you're right, it is the downtube. makes it look weird
i like long, low, super slacked out bikes.

they use to have an 8 in. and an 8.8 inch so is there just the one frame now does any one really know?
looks like a session painted blue imo. the glory hole for me is what made giants stand out and look unique
