The Santa Cruz Syndicate would like to announce the departure of Nathan Rennie from the squad as he looks to competing in 2009 with a new team (to be announced soon), and express our gratitude for the five years he raced for us from 2004 through 2008. His three year contract with Santa Cruz was up and he has explored other options moving forward in his career and has chosen to race for another team. His big presence and sense of humor will be sorely missed as well as his powerhouse performances on the racetrack. We wish him well on his new team and will continue to be proud of him and his efforts.

His big presence and sense of humor will be sorely missed as well as his powerhouse performances on the racetrack. We wish him well on his new team and will continue to be proud of him and his efforts.
Through the five years on the Syndicate Rennie has been the foundation of the squad. He brought so much laughter and story telling to the group along with many crazy beard configurations and horrifying haircuts for our entertainment. I don’t know how Josh Bryceland will be able to fill in, he barely has a whisker! Seriously though, Rennie climbed the podium 40 times in the five years for us, was twice Australian National Champion and earned a bronze medal at the 2006 World Championships and helped the Syndicate earn the #1 UCI Downhill Team Championship in 2008 while wearing the Syndicate colors.
Rob Roskopp remarks about Rennie, “An incredible rider, comedian, good friend and all around great man.... Rennie will be greatly missed. We wish him all the best moving forward"
Steve Peat says, “I would like to thank Nathan for all the fun times we have had together over the last three years I’ve been on the Syndicate. He was the King Pin when I joined the Syndicate and I learned lots from him. He always has the best stories and is always good fun to hang out with. I can’t wait until “Renoir’s Memoir’s” hits the newsstands. He is an asset to any bike company and a great friend to me. All the best with your new ride, mate!”
“I have known Nathan two years now but only properly since I have been on the Syndicate with him. He is a great teammate on and off the track and he had me in stitches all year long. I know Nathan will fit right on to any team with his personality and I wish him all the best in the future. It was a pleasure doing business with ya Renoir!” says Josh Bryceland.
Greg Minnaar congratulates Nathan on his new ride and says, “I have always looked up to Nathan as one of the best downhillers in the world, so to finally be able to see the "Beast" manhandle that V10 in person definitely amped me up every time we rode. Good luck bud, I hope this new change brings a fresh spark to your racing.”
In conclusion Nathan has this to say, ”I just want to thank everyone involved with the Santa Cruz Syndicate including everyone back in Santa Cruz. All I can say is that I’m a little lost for words. For some time now I have needed some change in my life, on and off the bike. I feel a change for me is for the best in all aspects. I am looking forward to getting back to my best and having the right outlook to better myself, and the new people around me.
I have so many people to thank so of course, in true Rennie fashion I would like to thank the gift that we can all agree on which is the creation of the "wheel". Myself and the wheel have a love hate relationship, but it always seems to keep turning. I’m going to keep this short and sweet because it’s not like I’m losing any friends with my choice to change, it’s only giving myself a chance to shine like the kind of red Ozzy kid I am. I look forward to seeing you all at the races same as any year. Keep it real, from your mate Nathan. Lots a love.”
I’ll have to cut the apron strings and let my boy move on, but Nathan will always be a family member to all of us on the Syndicate and at Santa Cruz Bicycles. Thanks for the memories Nathan!!

sad to see him leave the syndicate.
omg ur tellin me... this guy is a legend!! fair enuf he's not going to win the world champs or cup but he's such a funny good guy n he's easily a top 10 rider.. al be gutted watchin the syndicate tv on freecaster without him!
Yeah that's not true. He came in 2nd at Canberra this year in the rain, only bested by Minnaar, and it just happens that Canberra is the host of World Champs in 09. Chances are good he'll be on the top box. I'll certainly be rooting for him.
everybody needs a change every now and then. sorry to see him go but glad to know next year is going to be even more interesting

ohh i wish he continued on the team for the next season, but i think that´s how things go... GOOd luck for next season "BIG AUSSIE MAN" xd

i dont reckon he'd go to mongoose. maybe yeti. giant doesnt seem likely to me. or ironhorse perhaps.

I remember watching him coming down the hill, from his crash into a tree at ae forest, you could tell he was absolutley gutted and in great pain. I clapped him as he coasted past, and he still had the grace and professionalism to thank me! A true gent if you ask me. Best wishes and hope to see you again soon.
haha, why have they dropped him, before the year where not only is the world champs in his home country, but also on a track suited to him more than most of the other top riders.
if he wins worlds SC will be gutted

Haha, some people just skim through articles, and comment about something they havn't got a clue about!!

thats too bad, im sure he will ride another great company. hes not the youngest of the bunch but hes still got some ridin left in him!
sort of old news to farkin.net forum readers. A real shame to see him leave santa cruz as they seemed really supportive up till now. "moving on" is a polite way of saying they gave him the big shove. I hope he finds a new ride quickly, and the motivation to keep pinning it. Rennie has a great style to watch.
that is to bad eh. oh well hopefully he finds a team thats right for him, although i was convinced it was syndacite :p. good luck bro
I think he will be on the new DW link Turner DHR , he was the backbone of the syndicate though. Guess they had to make room for Palmer.
Palmer isnt riding for Syndicate, atleast theres nothing saying he is. He was riding with them one day, but that doesnt mean theyre sponsoring him.

damn.that kinda sucks i always thought the 3 main syndicate riders complemented each other.but honestly i kinda saw this coming.non the less good luck to rennie!
that would be cool except ironhorse doesn't make the sunday anymore and as i understand it they won't have a race team next year either. regardless, where ever he lands he will do well. the rider makes the bike, not the other way around and he is a great rider. best of luck to Rennie!
SNIF SNIF ...
NATHAN IS ON THE TOP BEST RIDER IN THE f*ckING WOLRD NATHAN GOOD LUCK DOES NOT CHANGE NATHAN !!
Nathan rennie has Always been one of my favorite riders He brings skill with Mad style, and balls of steel to do some of the things he's done. Any team Would be at a loss without him, Curious To see where he's headed. PRop's To him For being an awesome rider, and a generally good guy overall.

IronHorse has the DW link for 2009, and for 2010 they will most likely be using ICT (Ellsworth).

He really has the syndicate spirit, and was a great face for the team.
Results aren't everything, although he was f*cking fast as well, but I'm sure his personality will be missed.

damn all you guys think hes quitting riding or something. ALl this omg so sad. sad rennie crap etc. Seriously... he just wanted a change of pace. Not that much of a biggie.
Santa cruz will be fine without him and he will b fine without santa cruz.

i don't think rennie would ride one of those turds.
they might work for freeriders and girls with floppy titties. but not for going fast

ya... considering how adjustable the frame is (different head angle, chainstay, and travel settings) and how it can be set up to do either freeride or downhill, i can see why the gamblers are "turds." it's obvious you've never ridden one, but considering, you still make an excellent point.
adjustability doesn't mean shit. if a bikes designed properly. then why would you have to change anything. thats just extra fancy nerd shit that makes a bike cost more, and makes it weaker in the end.
it's all about the suspension design. and you won't see that one winning any world cups
it's all about the suspension design. and you won't see that one winning any world cups
adjustability means a lot when you race different kinds of venues. the gambler can be set up at 9.5" of travel at a 64 degree head angle to tackle a course like Deer Valley... or it can be set up at 7.5" of travel at a 66 degree head angle to be a really good set up for a course like the Sea Otter downhill.
and since Rennie is a yearly contender at the Sea Otter Classic Downhill and other big mountain events, it seems strange that adjustability would be something he wouldn't want in his bike. good point again though?

i don't agree. when you're used to a bike, and the angles are good. then changing it around is only gonna mess you up. the only people who are gonna play with that shit are slow people who want an excuse as to why they could ride better.
besides when you lower the travel and steepen the head angle on that bike. you're also raising the bb height, which is definitely not what you want on a course like sea otter. right?
right.
a good bike is a good bike, thats why they all share very similar angles 64.5-65.5 head angle, and about a 13" bb. if it was a good idea all the pro's would have adjustable angles on their bikes. but they don't they worry about important things like setting up their suspension, brakes, and tires.

kona is very limited, they need to change their linkage and not use the same shitty back triangle for every bike. going from a kona to a transition, i noticed a world of difference
sorry to poop on your parade, but transitions are pretty much like kona's just cooler because they've got "street cred"
you are incredibly dumb, they are in no way "pretty much like kona's". The geometry and linkage are incredibly different. Not to mention kona's are made in a giant factory by machines, and not a single person really cares about each individual frame, where as TRANSITIONS are hand welded (by a person if you dont understand) and out of a much samller factory where they pay attention to almost every detail.
Sorry to poop on your f*ckin parade...tard
Sorry to poop on your f*ckin parade...tard
hey ass f*ck. you think your smart because you think you know stuff.
but you're actually too stupid to know what you don't know.
you think that robots weld the frames in taiwan? well they don't. taiwanese bikes are hand made, just like transitions. just by asian dudes instead of americans.
and i don't give a f*ck if you think the bike is way different because the geometry is changed a tiny bit or the linkage is flipped upside down. the basics of it are the shitty single pivot chainstay.
and don't even try to tell me it isn't a single pivot just because there's a bunch of pivots all over the place.
the one that matters isn't there. the one between the main axle and the rear wheel.
And that makes it no better than any other shitty single pivot swingarm bike.
sure, i'd still rather buy a transition, but don't try and tell me they're WAAAY better. they're basically the same
i wish i knew where you lived. I would poop all over your parade
