British Columbia 5-Star Mountain Bike Trip Unveiled for 2008
November 19, 2007Published by brule(Fernie, British Columbia, Canada)-Sacred Rides Mountain Bike Holidays has just announced the details of a new 'deluxe' mountain bike adventure, set to debut in British Columbia in 2008. The Five-Star Singletrack holiday will feature 11 days of incredible British Columbia riding, with accommodation at deluxe back country lodges such as world-renowned Island Lake Lodge. The trip includes gourmet meals and additional activities such as float plane trips, hot springs and sweat lodge ceremonies.
The Toronto and Fernie, BC-based company has been in business since 1996, and has garnered praise and awards for its innovative socially- and environmentally-responsible approach to mountain bike tourism. In 2006, the company developed its own sustainability mandate entitled Responsible Riding. Among its tenets are a dedication to local staff and suppliers, and investing a percentage of revenues in local environmental and development projects. In addition, they have their own non-profit initiative, called Bikes Without Borders. They have already taken two much-appreciated shipments of bicycles to mountain communities in Peru this year. "Our clients are sophisticated mountain bikers from around the globe who demand the very best from their holidays," says company president Mike Brcic. "This trip was our attempt to spare no cost in putting together the best mountain bike holiday in the world. And I think we've done it!" The Five-Star Singletrack holiday is from September 5 – 16, 2008 and is $3995 per person, excluding airfare. In addition to their Five-Star trip, Sacred Rides also offers affordable alternatives in British Columbia, as well as trips in Peru and Chile. View Who Faved thisHey guys, I agree that 4 grand is a lot to shell out, and this trip ain't for everyone. But if you have the money, and you'd rather let someone else take care of all the details - and I mean every detail - then this is a pretty sweet way to go. All you do is show up with your bike, ride some epic trails, eat awesome food, and soak in a hot tub. You don't have to worry about gassing up the truck, where you're going to stay, what you're going to eat.
Rest assured, I'm not getting wealthy in this industry. I've been doing this for 11 years, and I am still just barely supporting myself my doing this full-time. We've also got some more affordable trips, like 10 days in Peru for 2 grand, hotels, meals, and flights in Peru included. We don't just cater to the Ă¼ber-rich. I, like most of you, prefer to do things myself, but some people don't have the time to plan big trips and they'd rather have someone else do it.
As for the photos, I just sent Karl some hi-res photos that should do the job better.

A lot of us from Canada Don't really appreciate how easy it is for us to just do it ourselves. Some folks from other places wouldn't know where to stay, where to ride, how to be safe and not get lost. For the customer that wants all those details handled for them this trip would be fantastic. Personaly I find the do it yourself approach better as well, but I have been riding in BC for 20 years so I know it well and I still like the idea of this trip.
I don't even know that it is so much the ritzy type. I've known broke ass snowboarders to pay the 500 (or is it more) $ for one day of heli-skiing and that is no accomodation, no booze adn no hot tub. I think ritzy and mtn bike tour taker don7t go together. I think what U R getting is someone who has a lot of money and not a lot of time to plan. Imagine UR a well off Dr in England. U can spend 2000 pounds on a 1 week trip to Ibiza (spelling) and all you get for that is fat, bloated and possibly crabs, or you can spend 4000$ for the best riding you'll ever have with the best scenery, best people, best place to be. I don't look forward to the day I am too rich and "stupid" to have time to explore things for myself, but if I ever get that way I am glad to know there are things that are really worth spending my money on. And this would be pretty high up on the list.
The problem is that there are too many of these companies that just drive into your town, skid your corners and leave. They make money off of our hard work. Very few put anything back into the communities. Next time, stay out of my town.
Well tiredsoul, I hope this means you will stay out of mine and everyone elses town. 'Share the ride' doesn't appear to be in your vocabulary. Just because someone gets to your town with a guide doesn't make them any different to me rockin up to a new place with a tent and four mates. I thought that is what riding is all about. But if you've got everything you need right there in shit town, then I guess you'll be staying there.
Hey, I have absolutely no problem with you coming to my town. My complaint is that these companie are making a tidy profit off of hard working builders. Share the trail is right but take a lesson from people like Johnny Smoke who is out the given'er and giving back. By the way, I do like it here and I bet you would too.
The product states "5 stars" and one should expect to get pampered. It is appropriately priced for what you get. Let me put this into perspective. Me and four friends did a 10 day ride in late october this years covering Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Colorado. We had two motorhomes and did everything on the real cheap and it still cost $2500cdn each. And we had to do all the work back at camp. I would think that if you are from the area you would think it is over priced no matter what - that's only natural because it's your home turf. Someone coming from eastern Canada, or another country would greatly benefit from the expertise of the guides and every aspect of the trip being planned for them.

I can see that this is certainly for the older adventurous folk, that truly believe that this trip is a trip of a lifetime.
