Silver Star Resort Update - June 24th

It is upon us! The Bike Park at Silver Star opens June 25 and I must say, I'm jacked! The snow is off the trails, they're tacky, buffed, and just waiting for the Comet Express Six-Pack to start turning. The Trail Crew are busy putting the finishing touches on all the new sections of trail, including new sections on Rock Star and Double Dog. Once that's done, they're re-walking all the trails to make sure the heavy rain last weekend didn't leave any puddles to get your toes wet. As with every opening there may be the odd muddy spot, but for the most part, it's going to be an amazing weekend!

Blowing the snow off the trails a couple weeks ago gave them time to dry out and allow us to make sure they're in pristine condition. I had the fortunate task of laying my tires into a couple of the new sections of trail and I can say that once they harden up, they're going to be a hit! All it's going to take is one day of people in the park and a couple times down to figure out the line and life will be good! The berm-to-berm transfers on the new sections of Rock Star worked out marvelously. Same for the rhythm of Pipe Dream — it kills. The new pump-track on Double Dog will have you dizzy with excitement. I will still be buffing the trails Thursday and Friday, so for all you lucky riders that are skipping work, I won't see you in until Saturday. That is, unless you holler a hello as you go racing past.
On Another note, we've got some fantastic specials for riders this year. July features Ladies Day every Monday. For every women's full-day regular priced ticket purchased, Silver Star will offer another FREE lift ticket for a female rider. Sorry guys, we're trying to build our female content. In addition, every Monday through Thursday in July until the 23rd, we are offering one FREE kids lift ticket when an adult purchases a regular priced day pass Both of these programs require you download a coupon from our website, but the time an effort are worth it.
We've also got a number of great Bike Camps this summer for both the men and women and the kids. If you click on our summer home page and then head to the Bike Camps button in the center of the page you can find the camp that best suits your needs.
Well, that's enough selling. I'm going back to buffing some trails so I can enjoy my Saturday.

Silverstar sucks, I'm sorry but I would rather ride the trails and shuttle in Kelowna any day over paying to go to Vernon
Your crazy.... Silverstar is better every year and is so smooth. Ive been to whislter and silverstar and Silverstar is almost as good.
silver star is not as good as whistler.. but its still nothing to ignore. I really enjoyed my time there as there was very few people out, lift lines no existent and riding was great!
best thing about silver star is the atmosphere, everyones really nice, no lineups much less competitive then whistler and the trails are amazing costs less and theres some really awesome hostels on the mountain.

Waldon have you smoked yourself retarded...lol??? you keep shuttling when the weather hits 35 degrees and let us know how fun it is then
I've never had the luck of going into a big bike park, it's like a dream, near portugual there is only a big bike park Vallnord i will try to go there and see how a bike park is!
love or hate. Personally I dislike bike parks - they are full of average or below level riders who turn up every weekend from the city just to skid round the corners and get in your way, not to mention the braking bumps! and the trails tend to be way too safety spec'd to be good: but thats scotland, i dont know about the rest of the world.
Id still like a trip to whistler for the shits and giggles, but my main reason to travel to BC would be for 'handbuilt' trails on vancouver island, and so that I could make my way south over the boarder into washington and ride the famed trails that Transition Bike Co seems to love so much!

i go to silver star lots its a blast, theres some hand built trails here `they are steep and rocky and not much people go on them. then there is pipe dream its like a moto cross track and mostly just the better people go on it, so at silver star there is something for everyone, the trails are not crazy but they are just so fun
Look at you Waldon! You only went there once. I could ride Double dog all day....and not beat the car up shuttling chute lake road.
Hey where you in penticton last summer with 2 other dudes with that old van with your bikes stuffed in it?

Silver Star is really under rated. Cam and the crew do a kick ass job and really care about the trails and the sport. Not sure if I would compare it to Whistler but it is realyl worth checking out!
no silver star sucks everyone done come :p, shhhh dont tell people about how amazing silver star is lets try and keep the lift lines down haha jk
ya, it will be nice on those busy long weekends, but most of the time on weekdays its like ride right to the chair i love silver star
