Calling in Well and it's benefits!

Friday was a day meant for travel as I hit the road for the next 10 days. After a great breakfast in Kamloops it was time to make my way east to the next BC Cup DH race in Invermere BC, along the way I decided I'd side track myself with a few hours at Silver Star in Vernon. Without any attempt to sway my best friend out of work and to join me, he looked up from his breakfast and stated "I'll be an hour behind, but I need to take a self improvement day and biking is the best reason I can think of!"

I arrived to a few clouds in the skies, but nothing that would cause any alarm or concern-just a nice breeze and little to no crowds. All the mountain staff were out prepping for the long opening weekend that was about to hit them-Robin, Heather, Graeme and the rest were busy with setting up tents, getting passes organized and generally making everyone feel welcome to be there.

I'm on this road trip to bring you all coverage from 4 different riding areas and to cover two events, oh and I'm traveling with a brand new Session 88 DH, so if you see me, feel free to ask about it and if you're really lucky we can go for a rip and you can experience it for yourself. And that is how my day started while I wait for my buddy to arrive-I ran into a guy I'd ridden with before by the name of Dan and he was keen to check the Session out too. Off to the lift we went and up to the top. Right now most of the trails off the top have a short re-route to Hub 1 where they continue on their own routes from there. 16 runs in total are open to an extent or another and they are so loamy! Lots of fresh cuts in the woods! Cam and his crew have been busy!

Once my buddy arrived from his "Calling in Well", it was time to bust out laps. Each lap I ran into familiar faces and more and were telling me that they had to call in well today too. I realize this sounds bad, but really sometimes we all need to take a day for ourselves and go enjoy life. I had 600km drive to do, but this distraction was really what I needed most at that momenta and I think that everyone that was there riding after calling in well, needed it too!

After getting a bunch of loamy runs under our belts it was time to call it a day and grab an ice tea. At the pub even more folks emerged from their rips too with huge smiles and great stories of the day in the office. Yesterday made me love my job to be able to be out riding with all the great friends I've made in this great industry! See you all on the trails.

During the last 400 + kilometers of my drive last night I was able to think about how crazy the day was. I can honestly say that I've never been on a bike that garners as much attention as this one is-each run had me either stopping mid run or chatting it up at the top or bottom of the lift with a curious onlooker. This should be a very talkative 10 days.

See ya on the road! I'll be at Panorama this weekend, Canada Olympic Park on Tuesday and in Golden BC for the Mount 7 Psychosis next weekend!

How is Silverstar? I went there for the first time last year as I visit my grandpa's cabin on the okanagan lake every year and thought it was amazing

sun peaks is horrible for break bumps, and besides steam shovel the mountain is all tech trails that suck.
