US Open - Overview of the event

Having never traveled out to the eastern USA for an event before, we weren't sure of what to expect from the US Open at Diablo Freeride Park in Vernon New Jersey. But having talked to folks and listening to the organizers, we knew that it would be an event that we simply could not miss. Everyone was right, the US Open is one great race weekend.
Read on for our recap of the week, as well as unseen pictures and videos from the trip:

Finding our way to Vernon New Jersey thanks to the mapping and GPS on the iPhone was pretty simple. Being told that you can't miss your accommodations is something we've all heard before, but really you CAN'T miss the Appalachian as it's huge and the primary place to stay if you are visiting the Mountain Creek Resort. We were overly stoked on our set up for the weekend as we ended up with a hill side view after upgrading our room (4 guys in a one bedroom with pull out couch was too small) and the deck provided mint viewing too!
Since we were putting content together each night, going out to eat wasn't really an option, but having a kitchen ruled and Ambrose likes cooking:

Quick look at the Intense 951 in the pits:
"It was was my first experience with the US Open and I was thoroughly impressed with everything throughout the weekend. The races were very well organized, timely and awesome to watch. The venue, accommodations and tracks were world class. Props to the whole US Open / Diablo Freeride Park team for putting on an awesome event and I can't wait to make the trip out next year! - Karl
"I think the US open is one of the best events in the US because of all the top notch guys from around the world coming to our dirt. Sea Otter does the same but Diablo freeride park is a place where companies get to show the capabilities of their products and riders rather than just introducing product like at Sea Otter. The atmosphere is great and Diablo's staff showed the love. The race organizers were working hard to give the spectators a killer time, and the speedy gondola gave riders plenty of practice time. - Andy
On behalf of Pinkbike.com and I think I can speak for all the racers there when I say "It kicked ass and we'll be back!" - Tyler
