the way the shock is connected to the pivot looks a bit flimsy to me
The rear end including shock mount and seat tower are made from steel, therefore heavy gauges not required. Remember, this thing has Balfa blood...
got a demo of theese at our shop. they ride pretty good cause of the steel rear end. kind of a smoother ride
according to the Cycles Xprezo website, the MSRP on them is $6869.00 CAN. that's not bad for a high-end boutique company. Commencal Supreme DHs are upwards of 7 grand.
"looks flimsy" because you are used to seeing stuff mounted into aluminum, not steel. Steel doesn't need to be anywhere near as thick to be strong enough. Trust me, def not flimsy.
looks like a very simple design, which can be good (maintenence wise), but how well does it pedal, track ect.
This frame aesthetically looks like many other frame of its type...Like karpiel for example. Im not denying it looks bad, because it looks awesome, im just saying its a shame theres not much development in the way bikes are looking...
I met a guy riding one of these in Whistler, and it looks decent. Althought it appears outwardly flimsy, the key components are forged steel. It's super light, but packs a punch.
not really. the spec list is pretty decent and race ready. you wouldn't really be swapping anything when you bought it. its a race machine not a budget bike.

lol as long as it works, i dont care about the looking, seems to have a good concept. if you want to make it look pretty get your favorite color, which in your all case probably is pink or purple?
What I don't understand is how someone can say - with a straight face - that there is no pedal bob on an 8.5" travel single pivot bike.... I call BS. Also, not that unique. Looks like they ripped off an old Norco and removed the 4 bar and added a single pivot....Such a good idea...NOT!
he said you don't feel it, as in there isn't any pedal feedback, what I did find funny is right after when he said 'the bike is really nervous, like the jumps alot'
Only a rigid bike has no pedal-bob. As far as single-pivot FS bikes, it depends on the pivot placement... It can actually work quite well. Check out the BMW Racelink for example.
i think its funny how every one says it looks like its ripped of from an old Norco when Norco uses Specialized FSR suspention design. so if the ripped any one off it is Specialized not norco.
but still look at any norco full suspention bike and it looks like a specialized because norco has to make their frames have the same geo to work with the suspention, and i think this looks nothing like a specialized or a norco
Which would be the better choice this or the evil revolt? now im a little bit confused about that. Both looks pretty.
May ride like a dream, but looks like was put together buy fred flintsone and barny rubble in my opinion

thats b.s. norco has ben using the system for years... specialized bought the suspension design patent and thats why theres spec sticker on our norcos

i wish i could have a turner dw-dhr with the same polished finish and red ano links... dressed up with the parts on my norco(red ano everything) love the team dh but its my 3rd so maybe my next bike will be something else
also the recall frames weight 150 grams extra
in my mind grams are like money so im losing here)
If anything this bike resembles the old GT DHI as far as the pivot and shock placement are concerned. The main difference being the deletion of the eccentric (i-drive). It probably behaves in a similar way when not pedaling (which is very good). I probably pedals pretty well. Not because it resembles a GT since it is a different system. He is right about the pivot needing to line up with the chainring for good pedaling. There might be a little pedal kickback though when the bike is deep in its travel since the stays are effectively getting longer as the bike goes through its travel putting some tension on the chain. This is due to the pivot being forward of the BB. Single pivots can be great bikes when done right (Commencal, MSC, Foes, Orange, Chumba, '08 Turner DHR, etc.). The record of racing is clear on this. Nico won on single pivots against FSR, Peat won on single pivots against FSR, so did Pascal, Tomac, Chausaun, Giove, and on and on and on. Just because a bike has a bunch of monkey motion doesn't mean it's good. Just because a bike has a single pivot doesn't make it good either. But you can be sure that it will be more reliable and easier to maintain.
Agreed. My old DHI did ride very well and pedal even better, and Balfa's are still sought after. A good combo in my opinion. Follows the KISS rule too: Keep It Simple Stupid.
